CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR WA SLALOM COMMITTEE 2019/2020
The WA Slalom Committee is appointed under the auspices of Paddle WA as the representative body of Canoe Slalom in WA, promoting and fostering the sport of canoe slalom and other related disciplines in Western Australia.
The WA Slalom Committee is an affiliate of Paddle WA, an Incorporated Association, and as such governed by constitution, rules and a Board.
Canoe Slalom in WA continues to enjoy success and growth, with club and state programmes, youth development, state events including racing, coaching and development camps.
Constitutionally, the WA Slalom Committee is elected at each SGM with the Board of Paddle WA approving nominated members. This notice is a call for nominations for the 2019-20 Committee.
This SGM will be held on Saturday 20th July at 2 pm at Whistlers Chocolate Company 506 Great Northern Hwy, Middle Swan WA 6056
The Discipline Committee comprises 3 officers (Chair, Secretary, Treasurer) and 2 additional members. The 3 officers plus two additional Committee members form the Executive (leadership) Committee. Committee members are also assigned to Sub-Committees as determined by the incoming committee (possibly including Finance, Funding, Events, Communications & Relationships, Community, Coaching and National Talent Squad). The role of the Sub-Committees is as “working groups” to lead and drive respective areas.
Roles and Responsibilities
In order to sustain the organisation, it is necessary for Committee members to understand and embrace Committee roles and responsibilities – as a primarily volunteer organisation, the Committee and its members are the active lifeblood of the sport.
